The best 32 days of my life

I miss work crew SO much.
It was the hardest five weeks of my life and by far the most work I have ever done. On average, I got less than six hours of sleep a night and took one nap the whole time I was there. The laundry room, dining hall, kitchen and our cabin were not air conditioned. One day in July it hit 102 degrees. Ha, that was one of the best days. I have never sweat so much in my life. I did not have my phone, laptop or any way of communicating with the outside world besides writing/receiving letters and paying to use a phone that 40 girls had to share. Every six days we washed 1200 towels, 1200 sheets, 600 pillowcases and 150 tablecloths. And folded them all too, that was the worst part. (You have no idea what folding does to your arm muscles). And believe it or not, all the clean linens go basically unnoticed. A "thank you" was rare and treasured by laundry girls back in those days.
But quickly the miserable work turned into glorious joy. I would give literally ANYTHING to go back and live there for the rest of my life, doing the same exact thing everyday. There's something about serving Jesus with the same 50 people day in and day out. They become your best friend. They become your boyfriend. They become your family.
Gosh, some days I look back at the pictures and start bawling and just wish and pray God could take me back there to serve with the same people, doing the same things for the rest of my life. And I realize, the reason I miss it so much and long for it so much is because THIS IS THE WAY GOD INTENDED LIFE TO BE. Living amongst people who love the gospel and living fully for Him.
If I thought work crew was perfect, imagine how great Heaven is going to be!!

Oh, the memories...

Where I had my quiet time every morning.

Oh, just taking a break in one of the dryers.
Just a co-laundry girl who turned into my best friend.

One of the most amazing women I have ever met.
Fifties night!
Joey trying to get my hair to look like his. This is how we passed time between buses on welcome day.
My friends at my birthday party that my WONDERFUL boss threw for me
Accomplishing my life long dream of being on the Pagoda!!
Working hard!
Working hard!
Not working so hard...
Ha, where it all began...
I love this one.
All the lint collected in the dryers over 32 days.
We were supposed to be folding...
One of the most amazing nights of my life. Genesis 9:14-15
Just jamming on our Sabbath.

My housekeeping family, who I miss more than words could ever describe.
