Romans 8:18
"They [Christians] came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." -Revelation 20:4b
Here, and many other places in the Bible, God talks about 1000 years. This number is important to Him. So, we're going to use it as an example.
The average American lives 78.6 years. If you take 78.6 years out of 1000 years and mathematically compute that ratio into a 24 hour day, the average American will be alive for 1 hour and 52 minutes of that day. Now, let's say our WHOLE life was full of nothing but struggles and hardships. If you're an American, this obviously is not true. But let's just say you never have one moment of happiness in your entire life and you are ALWAYS facing hardship. If we can make it through less than two hours of pain and suffering, we get spend the rest of our 22 hour day in PARADISE. Puts things into perspective, right? But it gets better! Because we're not in Heaven for only 1000 years, we're there for eternity!!!! Two hours of suffering then eternity in perfection! PTL!
This really comforted me a few days ago. I was having a really rough week. Nothing seemed to be going my way. But Mike Bro shared this nugget of awesomeness with me, and I refocused my sights on Heaven. This world is not worth it, cause it's going to be over so soon. And we'll get to be in paradise for forever. What else in this world can offer a hope like that?
