Random Happenings

It has been an extremely long time since I last blogged. A LOT has happened, so instead of posting a really long and super boring post, I'll just highlight a few of the great things that have been happening in my life lately.

1. I now permanently live in Northern Kentucky. And while I'm beyond stoked, leaving Lexington was a lot harder than I expected it would be. I loved that place and loved the people there even more. The people in my dorm became my BEST friends and I know they will stay important people in my life for a very long time. But although it was incredibly difficult to leave and I still miss Lexington everyday, I just couldn't get connected in any ministries there and I know God wants me home for a while.

2. I am now a part of Lloyd Younglife which I couldn't be more excited about. Due to a series of events, I am now the only girl leader on the team and honestly, it's really scary. But God is big and He will take care of me and our ministry at Lloyd. It's so funny, I remember thinking from a few years ago, "Younglife leaders are crazy. They're in college and they spend all of the their time hanging out with high school students. How lame. Who would ever want to do that?" Haha. Thank you Lord rescuing me and changing my heart! Now I'm one of those crazy people. And I love it. Go Juggs!

3. I move into my apartment with Ali Timmons very soon! I am beyond pumped! I expect to see my beautiful friends there all the time! (And PS- Don't worry, as we're decorating I'll post pictures for all of you to creep on.)

4. After almost a year-long unemployment streak, I finally have a job! Upon moving home, it was very tempting to go back to LaRosa's. But instead I now work at Town & Country! I am a "camp counselor" type person for the little kids that come there for summer camps! Since most of the youngins are still in school, I haven't exactly started yet. But so far the training has been fun! Jesus talks a lot about children in the Bible and I'm really excited to show Christ's love to kids. And the best part is, no nights or weekends! Waahoo!

5. 40 MORE DAYS TIL SUMMER CAMP!!!!

A new year has begun and I feel like all the good bloggers post about the new year. They either look back on big moments in the past year or look forward to upcoming events in the new one. I sat in front of my computer for a long time trying to think of something worthy of a new years post. And I can't really come up with anything. I'm not really a big new year person. How we paid off our debt in ONE YEAR!

You guys... we paid off ALL our school debt.  This whole thing started last January. We were at the Young Life 75 conference in Florida and Dave Ramsey spoke. He was hilarious and wise and I instantly fell in love with him. He gave us all a free copy of his book. I thought that was nice but unnecessary for us. We already "budgeted" and had a (looooong) plan to pay off our debt. But it turns out that Dan needed something to read on the airplane home. By the time we landed in Ohio, Dan had figured out that if we followed this plan, we could have all our student loans, which were our only debt, paid off in 14 months! This sounded a little crazy to me but Dan was sold, so we gave it a try and whataya know... 13 months later and we're already debt free! We're moving... again!

For the past two months we've been renting a house. It's a great house. It's huge and is the perfect location and has a lot of character. Though, there are some down sides to it. It's very old so the pipes froze a lot in the winter. The walls are plaster, not dry wall, so there are lots of big and unsightly holes. Our backyard is a muddy mess. Stuff like that. But overall, I like our house a lot. Unfortunately we have had a few disagreements with our landlord. After a miscommunication in Mid-February she offered that we could break our lease with no penalties if we wanted to move out. At first, the idea was daunting. We had literally JUST unpacked our last box and hung up our final piece of artwork on the wall. We couldn't imagine packing everything back up again, transporting it, then unpacking again. But we had signed a two year lease and just weren't sure if we could stomach another two years of living in this property. So we started looking around, just...
