The Girls of Button Creek Cabin (Part III)
Waaahhhh, I am so bad about blogging in a timely manner. My apologies.
Meet Devin.
She is so awesome. She just finished her sophomore year at Lloyd. I've known Devin for a while but was never really super close to her. She went to camp last year at Timberwolf and gave her life away at the say-so. But during one of our conversations earlier in the week she confessed that she never really believed. She stood up last year because she felt pressured; that wasn't truly an expression of her heart. Which I kind of gathered just from knowing her over the past few months, but I was stoked that she was able to be real with me and admit that. As the week went on, I saw her have another "best week of her life". It was so awesome to witness her constant smile and laughter because this girl has had such a broken life. She has such a messed up family life and at only 16 years old, has had 12 surgeries because she was born with cancer. After the cross talk, us Lloyd folk gathered around a tiki torch and I found Devin hysterically crying. Like, legitimately weeping. I got to talk to her later and long story short, she confessed that this year is different. She is actually listening to what God has to say to her and truly understands what Jesus did for us. The next night, she stood up at the say-so and rededicated her life to Christ. And I have no doubt in my mind that this girl fully gets it. Things have been great since we've been home and I am beyond excited to see where Christ will lead her next!
And meet Caitlin.
Caitlin also just finished her sophomore year and went to camp last summer. Caitlin was definitely the girl I was closest to going into our camp trip. She truly has been a blessing from God. Here's some quick background information: I got placed at Lloyd in the beginning of May. Our leader team consisted of two boys (Ian and Greg) and two girls (me and Taylor). I led with this team for five whole days then Taylor announced that she was leaving. Which, by the way, I totally love Taylor and although it was (and still is) hard sometimes, I admire how willing her heart is to follow Christ's plan for her life. She is great. But with no other girl leader to introduce me to people or help me learn the ropes of Lloyd, it was hard. This is where Caitlin comes in. She was an angel. She was constantly giving me girls phone numbers or introducing me to people. She loved me so well in so many ways. And she was only a sophomore! Her relationship with Jesus is so strong and she teaches me new things all the time. Sharing a great week at Rockbridge with her was awesome! Now she is at Lake Champion for a month serving on the work crew! And she is on housekeeping, which we all know is the best job ever! I miss her though! I can't wait until she comes home and we can continue doing God's work for us at Lloyd Memorial High School. Woohoo!
