Long time, no post

It has been a really long time since I last posted. And in all honesty, I don't really keep up with this thing anymore. But I am going to try to get better at it! So instead of writing my lab report that I haven't started yet, I'm going to share a few things that have been going on in my life since I last left off.

1. Jesus
Jesus is awesome. Over the past few weeks I've been reading through the Gospels and it's been rocking my world. The Spirit has been teaching and showing me so many things lately, but I'll just share a few. I've been really seeing what it means to love through the way Jesus lived His life. A conversation with an awesome friend led me to look into this more. The scriptures have showed me that love is not a feeling, but a choice we make. Jesus did not always want to love us. In the garden of  Gethsemane Mark tells us that He was deeply troubled and distressed. He was under so much anguish that He was sweating blood and told three of His disciples He was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. He knew what had to be done and He prayed that His father would take the cup from Him. In those moments, Jesus did not want to love us. But He chose to anyway. And that decision to love us changes everything about the way we live. I've been making an effort to wake up every day and purposely say "God, I chose to love you today. And I chose to love your people too". This, along with many other things He is doing, has changed my life lately. I am literally craving Jesus. I can't seem to get enough time in the word and in prayer. It is such a blessing and I pray this never changes!

2. Young Life
Things at Lloyd Memorial are hard. We've never had huge numbers and a lot of students just don't seem to get what Young Life really is. I used to be up at the school a few times a week since I coach cheerleading, but now that the season is over it's a lot harder to consistently be up there and be meeting/interacting with the students. I just keep reminding myself that the Lord is there working at that school, even when I am not. How thankful I am for that! I am also really thankful for the things that He IS doing at Lloyd, many of which I cannot see, but I am promised that they will be made known to me in due time. And 114 DAYS TIL SUMMER CAMP! :)

3. School
Last semester seriously kicked my butt. Taking 18 hours, 4 of them being organic chemistry, really killed me. But thankfully I passed and I will never have to relive that nightmare again! This semester has been much easier but still challenging. I am taking upper level Physics and upper level Biology but Spanish 101 is my toughest subject, haha. Everyone who told me that taking Spanish would be easy after being knowing French was seriously wrong!

4. Spare time
After spending time with the Lord, my friends at Lloyd, going to school, and working I don't have too much time on my hands. I read whenever I can. Next to Jesus and frozen yogurt, reading books is by far my most favorite thing in this world! I could make a post just about all the books I've been reading lately. Also, Dan and I enrolled in a class at Crossroads on Monday nights. It's called Overview of the Bible and it connects major themes across the old testament and the new testament. It is awesome!! It has been teaching me so many things and I am really glad I decided to do it. I've also decided that I need to get back into shape so now that it's getting warmer I'm trying to go outside and exercise more. So far it's happened... once. But I'm working on it! Haha.

That's really all that's been happening lately! Hopefully I'll keep this up and be able to continue to share God's blessings in my life!

And so I'm not totally boring, here are some fun pictures that have been taken recently!
