Hi ho
I graduated in May and have been working full time since then. I'm really lucky to have a job, especially to have a job that I love. Sometimes I forget that though and get a little sad, because my job isn't glamorous. I work in the Teacher Education department at NKU. It's a great place to work. The people in my department are wonderful. Like seriously, seriously wonderful. I have great, flexible hours and long lunch breaks. I have great benefits and am offered lots of time off. Working on campus allows me to see a lot of my friends that are still in college. And I get to wear jeans on Fridays.
But you know, I'm not really doing glamorous work. Like developing new technologies to reduce our dependence on nonrenewable resources and to save our planet. Or getting paid to travel the world. Or planning weddings.
(Honestly, I just want to plan everybody's wedding.)
But, like I said, I really do love my job. I have a lot of various duties and tasks. But if I try to boil it down to one thing that I do, it's helping people. Sometimes it's students, usually it's professors, sometimes it's the President or Provost, and sometimes it's principals and teachers from public k-12 schools. But I'm helping and assisting people all day long. And sometimes that's hard. But usually I like it a lot.
If I've learned one thing over the past couple of months it's that God has a plan for my life. It's bigger than I would've thought and contains some things that I wouldn't have ever dreamed. And He doesn't reveal everything at once, but slowly, as the timing becomes exactly what He wants. As we're facing A LOT of change coming up, God has made it so clear that this is His plan. Everything is falling exactly into place. Sometimes it's almost odd how smooth things have happened. And although there is still so much that I am uncertain about that I wish God would just tell me, He hasn't failed me yet. So I'll be patient. And I'll remember that while my job isn't the most glamorous, it is good and it is a blessing. He put me here for a reason and He is teaching me how to be a good servant for a reason (even though there are some days that I resist... a lot).
